Sarah Palin’s Advice For Lady Politicians: Ignore Mean Old Media

“Here’s some funny-in-retrospect advice to Hillary Clinton from Sarah Palin! She was at some conference thing in March 2008, five months away from McCain’s doomed decision to make her his running mate, when Karen Breslau of Newsweek asked her about Hillary getting beat up in the primary battle against Obama.

“With the wisdom and experience of a single year as Alaska’s governor and no national profile at all, Sarah Palin tells Hillary Clinton to quit whining about the media, because “you’ve gotta plow through that,” etc., you betcha. [YouTube, via tipster "Michael M."]

***UPDATE***

Sarah’s performance not playing well with the hatejocks of AM radio.

While out this morning, I had the chance to listen in to the hatejocks sitting in for Glenda the Wicked Witch Beck and Thrush Limpbough.

According to both, the supporters of Sarah are totally out of line when they try to defend her.

According to both, Sarah is a QUITTER, and QUITTING can not be rationalized away

Here’s what my wife is saying about that video clip and I agree.

Sarah, as a former sports reporter, is speaking “sports speak”. It’s what sports figures spout when approached with a question. It’s just words to them. They have no meaning to her other than as a way to get through the question without looking too dumb. My brother, who played professional baseball for years, will lapse into that to be funny.

Great observation by your wife, and I would have to agree with her too.

I bet she was just happy, and honored, to play the game.

That’s the topic of E. J. Dionne’s column in WaPo today:

    “Consider this passage:

“A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket… and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can WIN. And I’m doing that — keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities — smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it’s time to pass the ball — for victory.”

“Now wait a minute: First, she tells us that a good point guard keeps her eye on the basket — and one sentence later, she’s telling us it’s the ball she’s watching. Maybe that passage explains her difficulties perfectly.

“And she wasn’t done with the sports metaphors. There was also this:

“We need those who will respect our Constitution where government’s supposed to serve from the bottom up, not move toward this top down big government take-over… but rather, will be protectors of individual rights — who also have enough common sense to acknowledge when conditions have drastically changed and are willing to call an audible and pass the ball when it’s time so the team can win! And that is what I’m doing!”

“I’m not sure how to parse that mouthful, but we have clearly moved out of the world of basketball and into football. I keep re-reading those words and have to conclude that Palin called an audible here that no one can understand.”

    the whole thing is hilarious

“That’s the quitter’s way out,” she says as she QUITS.
    or
“people tell me to sit down and shut up,” two days later she’s got an attorney sending legal threats to bloggers telling them to SHUT UP

She’s truly the greatest gift to Dems ever!!!!

She is the gift that keeps on giving. I wonder when the real reasons for her quitting are going to come out. I was hoping maybe by today, but I guess I am being a wee bit impatient for the juicy details.

Hypocrisy aside, SP’s use of language drives me nuts! “I don’t think it bodes well for her”: what on earth is she trying to say?
Non Palin-people use that term to refer to, for example, a poll result. As in, “I don’t think it bodes well for her that her popularity among minorities is starting to show signs of decline….” etc.
This is just another example of her tongue making a fast break, and her brain getting called for traveling.

Her use of the language really does suck, and maybe that is how they speak in Alaska but she should have known to clean it up when she went national.

Just a thought but I can’t help wonder what the publishing house Harper Collins is thinking right about now. They’re on the hook for the advance they paid Palin for her memoirs. But that was when she was running for re-election next year the same time the book is due out. Even with releasing the book through their Christian market imprint Zondervan, which also publishes Rick Warren, what the hell do they do now with the rising star who just resigned? Publishers don’t like it much when an “author” screws up their long range marketing plans.

Zondervan is an interesting choice by HC. You will be able to find her book in every religious bookstore and some mainstream stores won’t touch it.

You can actually find a lot of Zondervan books in mainstream stores like Barnes and Nobles

    [Reply]

    (Report comment)

I know you can, but one of the bookstores I managed would not have carried any titles under the Zondervan imprint. You could not have paid us enough money to do that.

Your mega chains like B&N, Borders, etc… will carry anything and can afford to do so, but the discount off the list price used to be only 5% for smaller stores so it isn’t worth the shelf space, or paying someone to shelve it.

She is through in politics. Every time she speaks, someone will run the clip of her telling Hillary to suck it up right before running the clip of her quitting because she can’t take her own advice.

Here is the only way to not get caught telling a lie. Don’t tell one in the first place and you won’t have to worry.

Here is how to upload images. What you are seeing here is how to get a photo to show up on the front page. Once you get to this step, where you are uploading the image, you will see down at the bottom a choice to “insert into post.” That will put the image in the post. You can also put them on the left, the right, or the center. Wherever your cursor is at in the comment box, that is where the image will go. If the image is next to words, it will automatically wrap the words around the image.

True. But let’s face it, Bachmann is a Rep from a weird little district. Compared to the sitting Governor of a large state, maybe not in pop. who was running for the 2nd highest office in the land. Palin isn’t just a whiner now, she’s a quitter.
