You wouldn’t think a Summit for Values Voters could recreate a well known vaudeville act from last century, but three Republican stooges managed to pull it off.
The passé antics and clumsiness of Congressman Roy Blunt, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee were on display over the last several days, during the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C..
The summit is sponsored by none other than The Heritage Foundation, The Family Research Council, American Values, Focus on the Family, the American Family Association and the Action Committee arm of the Family Research Council.
Roy Blunt took the podium Friday evening and offered his take on Washington, by reciting a monkey/golf course joke.
Here’s the clip:
Racism has been an unwelcome undercurrent in our political landscape since the election of president Obama. A Republican Congressman should have more sense and decency than to start throwing around monkey quips after the incivility of the moron march and the healthcare townhalls. Was this a deliberate attempt by Blunt to gain traction with the worst of his base, by using the “monkey” reference to Washington and perhaps, president Obama?
Whatever his motivation, his bumbling message is in such bad taste, he gets the Curly award.

Next up we have the winner of the Straw Poll, Mike Huckabee, (or Hucksterbee as I prefer to call him) who is still feuding with Mitt Romney.
The former Baptist Minister, one time presidential candidate and squirrel fryer, won the straw poll decidedly with 28%, beating out Romney, Pawlenty, Gingrich, Ron Paul, Palin and Jindal, who each won around 12% each. There was a grand total of 597 votes.
Hucksterbee sniped at Mitten’s record in MA “In fact, the only thing inexpensive about Massachusetts’ health care bill is that there, you can get a $50 abortion.”
Hucksterbee gets the Larry award for fueling the petty rivalry that started during last year’s Republican primary.

Mittens tried to defend the health care overhaul launched during his tenure and focused on criticizing the president’s proposed plan. “There is no government option in my Massachusetts reform. The right answer for health care is not more government, it is less government.”
Mittens, gets the Moe award for that attempted deflection, which plumbs the depth of stupidity and hypocrisy.
If Republicans think that government isn’t the answer to any of our problems, why the hell do they keep running for office? I don’t need any more proof that they are incapable of performing after elected, I only have to look at their track record, especially the last 8 years.
Republican officials’ open contempt for government, as they desperately claw their way into government, is just one of many ironies played out daily by these fools with their million dollar mansions, their million dollar pensions and their platinum plated, iron clad healthcare coverage.

When they claim we need less government, what they really mean is they want government to work exclusively for them and their cronies, but they couldn’t care less if it nobody else reaps any benefits from their ineptitude and corruption.
They’re selfish, they’re mean and they’re blatant hypocrites. Larry, Curly and Moe were entertainers, but these three stooges are unfortunately, for real.

Terrific post bg, that ’summit’ has been a comedy of errors. For the life of me, I just can’t imagine attending seminars entitled ‘The myth of global warming’, or ‘How to bury any shot of decent healthcare by being loud ‘n stupid in public’ (k, made the latter up).
I’d love to know who the corporate sponsors are … the NRA? Dick Armey?

“Eliminate the Monkey Problem” … uh-huh, no dog whistle there.
my fave part of the clip is the end where Blunt speaks of Al Franken in the Senate and Tom DeLay on Dancing with the Stars.
yes, Roy, the tables certainly have turned.
Franken’s books “The Truth” and “Lies” were the greatest expose of DeLay’s slimy dealings. One voice really does make a difference.
SUCK IT THUGS!!!!
