White Powder Letters Sent to Five U.N. Missions in NYC

My feeling about this story is that it is a very bad sign…
Five United Nations Missions in New York City received letters containing white powder yesterday, Monday the 9th of November, and fortunately the material was found to be harmless.
The targeted nations were Britain, Austria, France, Germany and Uzbekistan. Three of the letter were postmarked from Dallas, Texas.

“The material is being examined by the authorities, and the preliminary finding we’ve received is that it was not dangerous,” Austrian U.N. Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting said at U.N. headquarters.
The New York Police Department has said that it had already decontaminated 40 people as a precaution.
French Ambassador Gerard Araud said the decontamination of his mission went on until after 3 a.m./0800 GMT. He said the letter was postmarked in Dallas, as were the letters received by the Austrian and German missions.
It was not immediately clear where the other two letters were sent from. Officials at the German and Uzbek missions said operations were back to normal at their offices and the people who opened the letters had returned to work.
Mayr-Harting declined to comment on the contents of the letter that accompanied the powder. A police spokesman also said he could not confirm media reports that the letters referred to al Qaeda.

I really don’t think that they are taking the domestic terrorists seriously at all. I think it is going to be another one of those things where the talking heads on tv will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off bemoaning why no one saw it coming.

while I agree with you for the most part, I’ve also researched many posts I was writing and noticed a great deal of mainstream reporting on many issues like Blackwater, Cheney, C-Street, etc., and still people are clueless
My own 30 y/o urban L.A. smart step-daughter did not what Teaparty and TeaBaggers meant. Had NEVER heard of it. I was shocked.
