From the New York Times: astronomers find a new planet.
Astronomers said Wednesday that they had discovered a planet composed mostly of water.
You would not want to live there. Besides the heat — 400 degrees Fahrenheit on the ocean surface — the planet is probably cloaked in a dark fog of superheated steam and other gases. But its discovery has encouraged a growing feeling among astronomers that they are on the verge of a breakthrough and getting closer to finding a planet that something could live on.

Since there was a wee bit of talk of the planet formally known as Pluto… a new book called, “The Case For Pluto: How A Little Planet Made A Big Difference” looks rather interesting.

There has been an awful lot of talk about this lately. With the new satellite telescopes that have been launched recently we are really getting tons more info and discoveries than ever before. So nice not to have to deal with pesky atmosphere.
It is all rather exciting… : )

Heh – remember Men in Black (the first one – not the lousy second one)? Cruise was depicted as one of the aliens.

I miss Pluto.
And it was only a chilly 369 degrees. Sigh…

A dwarf planet is hardly a consolation prize for losing a childhood favorite to new parameters on what classifies a planet a planet.

Poor baby.
They may change back again tomorrow, you never know.
I just got the 2 courses I ordered from The Teaching Company, one on “Chaos” and another on “Cosmology”. I’m playing eenie, meenie, minie, mo. All of a sudden I’m on sensory overload. “Aaaahh”

That’s a good kind of sensory overload! Depending on your mood I would pick Chaos, if it is on Chaos theory.
It looks pretty hopeless for Pluto being reinstated as a planet despite all the moaning and complaining about it. At one point in the future the average person will not even know that it once was a planet. Of course, Pluto could be plotting revenge in order to regain status. Maybe bump off Neptune…
