Trying a Live post, as I’m crazy-glued to the teevee. Naturally, catching the President
on Leno’s couch. It’s fanFreakin’tastic. Quoting loosely, ‘Sometimes folks think this is
American Idol, and they are all Simon Cowell.”
I admit to some trepidation, however, as I know beady-eyed Rushblicans are riveted,
mouths watering, tiny tape recorders whirring, plans of nefarious sound bite editing
dancing in their cavernous heads. Obama’s staunch defense of Geithner will be spun by
the right into a FEMA redux moment. The Special Olympics joke will incur outrage
on looney-talk radio. And above all, pompous windbags will decry the loss of the
sanctity of presidential abstention from the late-night circuit.
So what if this is a presidential first? Obama is undertaking more firsts than most of the
44 put together. He’s a bold thinker, and goes ahead with confidence after carefully
weighing options and reaching a firm decision. I amuse myself with thoughts of the West
Wing debates that surrounded this visit to Burbank.
I feel that Americans want to trust President Obama to get us through this economic
wilderness, to believe that we are finally in good hands. I often make the point that we
are a curious, minutae driven people. The oddest little things make headlines, for it is in
the details that we find the familiarity required for trust. So by having Obama in our
living rooms tonight, we may well be furthering trust and confidence. We desire to be
on his side, to have his back. Against the opposition, surely, but also for the pride and
purpose we gain ourselves.
So I’m a curious bear, what are the esteemed thoughts on tonight’s show?

What show? I must have swooned. Seriously, our President is the rare human being who can not only see the forest AND the trees but knows how to camp, cook on an open fire, protect us from the critters, and tell us a great bedtime story before we slip into our tents…

Indeed! He’d even get those ubiquitous tree-climbing raccoons to a safe haven, and in record time.
I will have to catch colbert tomorrow, the first five minutes were killer.
My goodness, I’m starting to lose the HP-induced creative typing nonsense …
didn’t even think to put random punctuation in ‘killer’.
It’s a good thing.

I think the opposition to Obama will have 8 years of lunging for whatever crumbs fall off the table but the majority of Americans are sick of the mindless “gotcha” crap the GOP is so reliant on.
The majority wants the economy, health care, global warming, inequity of wealth distribution and energy independence addressed.
I just look at the whining as background noise, it has nothing to say and is just annoying.
